Lenovo Yoga C930

Lenovo Yoga C930A

Lenovo Yoga C930 – not to be confused with Yoga Book C930 – is arguably one of the best convertibles out there. It inherits the good things seen in the previous generation – Yoga 920 – but improves several fundamental aspects for those who buy a convertible. Versatility, responsiveness, portability, great audio, good display… are just one side of the coin. On the other hand, we have a list price that is currently too high: around € 1500 for the necessary configuration to reach € 2200 for the complete one.

Lenovo Yoga C930: design:

Lenovo Yoga C930 is definitely a product designed for portability and does not create particular hassles inside a backpack. Dimensions and weight ( 32.2 x 22.7 x 1.45 cm; 1.38 kg ) are contained even if other competitors, such as HP Specter X360 (30.88 x 21.79 x 1.47 cm; 1 , 33 kg) and Dell XPS 13 (30.4 x 19.9 x 1.37; 1.24 kg), are slightly more compact.

In the front part, the frames are abundant, and above all, that of the lower leg could be optimized better. There is a webcam of sufficient quality in the upper bracket, which, thanks to a small slider, can also be closed or not.

Speaking instead of mere aesthetics, Yoga C930 is not bad at all: it has a modern look and incorporates the predecessor Yoga 920. The aluminum body, to the touch, conveys the feeling of a quality product.

Keyboard and trackpad: Lenovo Yoga C930

On the right side, we have only the power button while, on the left, all the available ports: one USB 3.1, 2 Type C ports that can be used for charging both Thunderbolt 3 (ThunderboltTM 3 USB-C, PD, DisplayPortTM, USB 3.1 full-function) and the audio jack input. Therefore, we have no information for SD cards and HDMI, which force us to use an external hub often.

The keyboard and trackpad satisfied us but not entirely. The keyboard is backlit  (with only three levels of brightness), the essential travel is short – but not too much – and in daily writing, it is undoubtedly acceptable. However, we didn’t like the fret material very much as they feel a little plasticky and tend to get dirty quickly.

The size of the trackpad can go, but it doesn’t flow very well. We didn’t like the feedback when pressing. For example, I am used to my MacBook, and I must say that I prefer it. Attention, they are just fine, but from this point of view, it is also a little too personal taste.

In the lower part, near the trackpad, we also find the convenient fingerprint reader, which is accurate and unlocks the device in 1/2 seconds.

The versatility of a convertible

This year Lenovo deserves all the compliments. How To Get Rich They packed into the Yoga C930, everything a user looks for in a convertible.  Meanwhile, it should be noted that it will be difficult to distinguish it from a standard ultrabook when used in desktop mode.

Manufacturers  Instead: Lenovo Yoga C930

In addition to the classic use in desktop mode, you can then switch to tablet mode. But, what is the indispensable companion of any convertible? A nib. From this point of view, Lenovo made the smartest choice: they decided to integrate the stylus into Lenovo Yoga C930 and not sell it as a separate accessory – which many manufacturers do instead.

Another positive note is that in the back. You have the chassis in which to store the stylus always to have it conveniently. With you, and even have it recharged when it is inside the housing. The nib’s quality is good, and the 4096 points of pressure sensitivity allow it to have an almost zero delay. On the other hand, the nib’s ergonomics is not the best, and in long writing sessions, it could be slightly annoying. The compromise we go towards to have the beak always with us.

Multimedia

Lenovo Yoga C930

Lenovo Yoga C930 features a panel IPS touchscreen from 13.9 ” in Resolution FHD, with technology Dolby Vision and about 300 nits maximum brightness. You also have the option to choose the display in UHD resolution. It is not among the best around, but we must say that we were pleasantly surprised, also considering that we have the “poorer” version: sharp, excellent viewing angles, well-calibrated colors … in short, a fantastic display from all points of view. However, it should be noted that it is a little less bright than other competitors in the premium range.

Good Display

Yoga C930 is perfect for multimedia: to a good display and the ability to use it in tablet mode, you need to add Excellent audio. The maximum volume is remarkable, and even in this circumstance, the sound quality amazes, resulting in free of distortion. Moreover, thanks to Dolby Atmos technology, you perceive 3D sound and the possibility of choosing between some preset configurations (music, movies, and games).

Another positive note is the design choice made this year by Lenovo for the positioning of the case. The speaker changes position compared to the previous generation. In Yoga C930, we find the so-called rotatable soundbar: Best Selling Budget Laptop. The speaker integrates inside the hinge, which is designed to always be in front of us in any mode of use. The hinge quality is excellent and dependable, but when the device’s opening angle is less than 45 °, it tends to close by itself depending on the movements.

Also, about the autonomy,’ it’s pretty good. The battery is 60 Wh, and with average use, it makes about 10 hours of service, which is almost always enough to complete the day.

Hardware

Processor:  8th gen Intel core i5 or i7 (hence Kaby Lake R);

DDR4 RAM:  8,  12, or 16 GB ;

PCIe  SSD storage: 256/512 GB or 1/2 TB  (with the latter being available soon);

Display:  IPS  touchscreen in Full HD or UHD ;

Battery: 60 Wh;

Windows:  10  or  10 Pro ;

Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 ac, Jack Audio, 1 x USB 3.1; 2 x USB-C (ThunderboltTM 3 USB-C, PD, DisplayPortTM, USB 3.1 full-function);

Performance:

We tried the configuration processor Intel Core i5-8250U on January 8 °, a quad-core with a frequency based on 1.6 GHz, and that boost can get to 3:40 GHz. The i7 version would give a more incredible guarantee on performance, but we will need to add another € 100. Either way, Lenovo Yoga C930 performed well in all day-to-day operations, proving to be suitable for most people. No problem was navigating chrome with many open tabs and resetting a Hp Laptop Great for productivity in all senses, writing with the keyboard, and writing digital notes with the stylus. It is practically perfect for multimedia. Thanks to the beautiful display, the more than excellent audio, and the possibility of using it as a tablet. In all these situations. It manages to keep temperatures low almost always, even if, now and then, the cooling fans run randomly.

Lenovo Yoga C930, however, Manages to withstand even heavier operations. Such as photo editing with Adobe Photoshop and video. We are editing with Adobe Premiere (not very heavy). While, As far as gaming is concerned. The integrated Intel HD 620 graphics card does its duty but, With demanding titles. It shows its limits, and the cooling system begins to “trudge.” Playing along with the F1 session, for example, is not recommended. On the other hand, we are not talking about a device for gamers, and we can expect it.

Conclusions

Summing up, we can only be satisfied with Lenovo Yoga C930. We reiterate it. Further, it is undoubtedly one of the best products in its category. So, if you are thinking of a premium convertible, giving it more than a little thought is a must. However, we must admit that the price is too high in the current state of things. As mentioned, it starts from around € 1500 for the basic version and goes up to € 2200 for the complete configuration.
